Our Early Learning Center (preschool with extended hours) is offering some new programs and pricing options this school year. Check it out. Share it. And support as you are able!
The Early Learning Center (ELC) is affectionately referred to as “the Center” within our community. The Center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. Our educational facilities include the principle classrooms (maximum 16 students per classroom) bathrooms, music and movement areas; a multipurpose gymnasium; outdoor play area, community garden, and prayer trail.
Our Preschool Services:
The Center offers full-day educational services to children ages 2.5 – 6 years in a mixed-age setting. Educational goals are set individually but our kindergarten readiness goals are for each child to be able to: 1) articulate or otherwise communicate their feelings and needs; 2) listen and follow a two-part direction; 3) follow classroom procedures; 4) interact and play with other students without an emotional break-down; and 5) play independently and/or persist at a task for at least 10 minutes. These goals were developed after speaking with a local kindergarten teacher about her ideal student. We prioritize play and communication because the traditionally academic knowledge can be learned anytime, but the social and emotional health of our students is critical at this age and carries over throughout their K-12 education.
How to apply? Download the application, send it in by email, fax, or mail, and then set up a preliminary interview with the director to discuss the program that is right for you.
Full-time tuition is $208 per week. Scholarships are available. Indicate interest at the preliminary interview and the director will give you the appropriate forms.
*NEW: Build-Your-Own Hours: $5 an hour for the hours your family needs
The Center offers part time services at an hourly rate of $5. Anyone not needing the full 10 hours (per day) may elect to pay the $5 rate for the hours their child attends. Schedules must be fixed ahead of time, at least a week in advance, and contracts are arranged per family.
*NEW: Fixed Preschool Program: 3 days, 3 hours per day, $45 per week
The other part-time option the Center offers is a preschool class that meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $45 per week. Parents provide a lunch. Students participate in story time, individual lessons, academic stations (fine motor, music, science, math, literacy, and exploration), outdoor gross-motor play, and free play daily. Additionally, students have chapel and special guests every week. Gardening is weekly throughout the warm season.
Please contact the Director (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more details.
A typical day will include structured and unstructured play; art, songs and stories; rest times; outdoor exploration; physical challenges to improve motor skills and many other sensory activities. The preschool curriculum portions of the day are based on state and national standards and will include activities targeted to all aspects of a child’s developmental needs including cognitive, behavioral, social, emotional, and physical health.
Enroll Your Child Now:
We are accepting applications now. Full time tuition is $208 per week, which is approximately $4 an hour if students are attending all hours. Sibling and church member discounts are available. Please contact the Director about part-time opportunities, which will be based on a $5 hourly rate, and a schedule corresponding to your needs.
Jaime Schuldt: Early Learning Center Director/Lead Teacher
Jaime Schuldt joined the staff at Saints Peter and Paul in February of 2018. She is a 2009 graduate of Northern Michigan University in Marquette, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. Jaime completed her post-baccalaureate certification in Secondary Education at Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ. She has an Early Childhood Director and Administrator Credential from Concordia University in St. Paul, MN, and is now working on her Master of Arts in Education – Early Childhood Emphasis there, as well. She is married to Christopher and they have one daughter, Iris, whom they love introducing to new people, places and things. Exploring the world with the fresh eyes of a child is their favorite activity these days. Jaime is passionate about learning through play and building up students’ social and emotional health as a strong foundation for success.
The Center’s staff is trained in CPR, First Aid, and BBP. Our staff completes a minimum of 16 clock hours of professional development per year. Each member of the staff is passionate about the education of children, and works hard to make our students comfortable – yet appropriately challenged – and prepared to learn.
Like our church’s flame logo, the three leaves in the Center’s logo are symbolic of the Trinity; all three parts are working together to cultivate vitality in us and to make us more fully alive. Furthermore, the three leaves are a reference to the three prongs of our mision: fostering health, empathy, and independence in our students. The copper in the stem is a nod to our roots, while the green gradient represents a spectrum of spiritual growth. We may each be at a different point in our faith journey, but we are all on this adventure together.
Opportunities to help:
We need craft supplies and large books to read together during story time.
We need substitutes to cover four- and eight-hour shifts.
Contact the Director at email@example.com to volunteer.
Parents’ Day Out (a pre-registered single day option) will still be available at the church as well.
*There will be some flexibility on ages. For full information on eligibility, or questions pertaining to your child, please contact the Director at firstname.lastname@example.org
