“This is my first day in America and this place is so serine,” shared one international graduate student. In less than 24 hours he had landed in Chicago’s Ohare International Airport, been bused to Michigan Tech and joined in on blueberry pick, which was an experience he had never had or tasted before!
This all took place last Wednesday, when we partnered up with Global InterVarsity to host this event, which about 14 international students joined us for. Many students came from India, Taiwan, Japan and China. We joked about snow and food, shared how to pronounce each others names, discussed professions and event exchanged information to stay in touch and help each other if there was a need.
Connecting with our neighbors can be so simple and fun. Stay tuned as we have more opportunities to connect with our international neighbors and literal church neighbors this fall.
