What happened in the early days of Jesus’ life?
We don’t know a lot about the first 30 years of his life. But, we know some things.
This Sunday, we’ll look at the story in Luke 2:22-40 as Jesus was presented at the temple.
Here, we meet a couple of characters named Simeon and Anna. This whole story refers back to Old Testament laws and prophecies regarding childbirth, impurity/purity of a mother after giving birth (Leviticus 12), the Messiah, and two turtle doves (really, it does).
We’ll spend our time staying pretty close to the text on Sunday to see what it is Mary was doing at the temple and what Simeon and Anna were able to see regarding the birth of Jesus.
But, without some close analysis to the Old Testament, it won’t make much sense. This will be a great reminder, once again, that we need to be “people of the whole book (Bible).”
My prayer for you today is that you would experience in Jesus just what Simeon did: Peace, Salvation, and Light.
