Who was your favorite teacher? What stands out in your memories about that teacher?
Every other week, I conduct a service at the Bluffs senior community. Yesterday, I asked those two questions to the people who were gathered. Even my 99 year old friend Sue remembered the name of her favorite elementary school teacher and told me all about the strict old German lady, who was tough, but also kind and fair.
Teachers leave a lasting impact on us. Many of you are teachers by profession of various age groups. I would imagine that you know your work leaves lasting impact and that’s why you continue to do what you do.
Last week, in the story, we talked about Disciples, which means “learners.” This week, in chapter 24, we see Jesus teaching…a lot… As a matter of fact, the disciples often even call Jesus “Rabbi” which means, teacher.
There are many people in this world who think that that’s all Jesus was – a great moral teacher. Yes, Jesus had many teachings on morality. However, is that all he was? The short answer – by no means.
By His own claims, Jesus claimed to be much more than just a teacher. He claimed to be the Son of God and Savior of the World.
So, which is he? Just another teacher? Or is he the Son of God?
We’ll explore more of Jesus’ teachings and claims about his authority on Sunday morning. Have a blessed day in the Lord!
Alive in Christ!
